Tight Knit by Allie Brennan

Story: Talia Gregory relies on her Nan for everything, especially helping her calm the anxiety that controls her life. But Nan gets sick, and it couldn’t be worse timing. Talia’s panic attacks are getting worse, her boyfriend is a jerk, her best friend is distant, her parents are more absent than usual and she’s stuck planning the Cozy Christmas Charity Drive for her knitting group in place of Nan. If that’s not panic inducing enough, enter Lachlan. Lachlan McCreedy doesn’t rely on anyone. Not after what he’s been through. It’s him and Gram, nothing else matters but keeping his past buried, and his secrets hidden. So when Gram forces him to help with her Christmas sale, Talia is the last thing he expected, and trusting her with his secrets comes as a shock to both of them. But when he unexpectedly falls for her, the question becomes can he trust her with his heart?

Our rating: 5 out of 5 knitting stars

Review: Who doesn’t love a book about two broken characters finding each other and being able to save each other? This story is told in Talia and Lachlan’s point of view. We love when an author does this, and we love it even more when the reader can distinguish between the two characters. Allie does a wonderful job giving both of her characters their own distinguished voice. Talia suffers from panic attacks and anxiety, while Lachlan is the bad boy with lots of issues. Lets take a minute to swoon over Lachlan. He is proof that not all bad boys are really bad. In fact there is a lot of good in Lachlan. Both of these characters come together to bring you a realistic, cute, and sometimes dark love story. They both have a lot to overcome and as the reader you find yourself rooting for them. We will say as much as we loved the two main protagonists the characters that really won our hearts were the two grandmothers. Nan and Gram are the voice of wisdom in this book. They are loving and supportive of their beautifully broken grandchildren. They are the types of grandmothers we all need in our lives. This book will warm your heart, and you’ll find yourself smiling after you finish. We have officially become fans of Allie Brennan.

So put on your knitted hat and read Tight Knit

Our rating 5 out of 5 loving stars

Review: A couple of months ago we fell in love with the book Hold on Tight. It is exactly the kind of book that got us back into reading. We also fell in love with the two love interest in the book: Court and Nash. It even started many battles between us since we were evenly split between team Court and team Nash. Letting Go did not disappoint. We loved this book. It pulled a lot of emotional strings in our heart. We loved how it showed how sometimes teenagers can be so self involved they don’t realize what is happening in their parent’s life. The relationship Emma has with her mother towards the end made us pass the tissue box around. We also love the relationship Emma has with her best friend Britney. It’s very authentic and reminded us of the relationship we have with each other. Of course Court and Nash continue to thrill us and make our hearts go wild. Even though the first book made us all argue over who Emma should pick, the second book made us all agree she chose the right guy. The ending in this book was perfect and brought us tears to our eyes. This is a book you must add to your must read list, but make sure you read Hold on Tight first. We look forward to reading more books by Maria.

Author’s Corner: Danielle Sibarium

We first met Danielle Sibarium when she contacted us about reviewing her first book For Always. We quickly fell in love with her writing and rushed to read her second book Heart Waves. We fell in love with Jordan from For Always and Reece from Heart Wave. We honored both by choosing them to be our boyfriend of the week. Ever since we finished reading Heart Waves we have been counting down the days until Breaking Wave was released. Our wait is finally over. We will bring you our review of Breaking Wave in February when it’s our turn to host Danielle’s blog tour. Until then we are excited to bring to you our interview with Danielle Sibarium.

For those who don’t know, what is Breaking Waves about?

Breaking Waves is the sequel to Heart Waves. From the moment they met, Jenna knew Reece would break her heart, but she never dreamed it would happen like this. Jenna is left shattered and broken. When life becomes too painful to deal with and she feels completely alone, there’s only one person to help her pick up the pieces and move on. The one person she doesn’t want to turn to. The one person she promised to stay away from. Tyler.

Can Jenna put aside everything she knows about him and let Tyler help heal her broken heart?

What was your inspiration for this series?

A long time ago when I first started writing For Always I thought this was the story I wanted to write, Reece and Jenna had been friends since childhood and I needed backstory.  As I created the backstory I realized they were two different books. I continued For Always with Stephanie and Jordan, made them meet when she was young, and held off on the idea of Heart Waves. When I started writing this series, I wanted Reece and Jenna to meet for the first time when they were older.

Are any of the characters or the story based on any real people or events?

Little things in series are based on real people and events. The instant connection Jenna and Reece feel is based on my husband and I and the first time we met. The Point Pleasant setting is real. I loved spending summers there. The little beach Jenna goes to in Heart Waves was one of my favorite places to go to on summer nights, the boardwalk another.                .

What advice would you give Jenna about love?

Love can be a double-edged sword but it’s not something you can do half way.

Who was your favorite character to develop?

This might be cheating, because it’s really based on Heart Waves, but so far in the series I had the most fun with Reece. I often found myself smiling while writing the scenes between Reece and Jenna in Heart Waves.

The biggest surprise for me was Tyler.  He was just supposed to be mentioned in Heart Waves, but he intrigued me and his role grew until he became an integral part of the entire series.

When did you become interested in writing?

I fell in love with writing literally as I learned to write. I remember the day I learned about brainstorming in first grade. I went to a birthday party later that day and lost a game of Hot Potato because my mind was preoccupied with the idea of brainstorming. I envisioned a topic with a brain spitting out all sorts of words related to it. It was an actual storm of ideas. How cool! Right then and there I was hooked. In the sixth grade we were required to write one creative writing every month. My teacher would often read my stories out loud to the class, and my classmates enjoyed them. I knew then whatever my future held; writing would be a part of it.

Do you have any writing rituals?

Basically I try to find some quite time and a quiet place in the house.

What word do you always have trouble spelling correctly?

I always spell lose wrong. Always!

What author or book inspired you to write YA?

I’d have to say the Twilight and Immortal series’ inspired me to write YA. For Always had been written for years. But I really didn’t know where it belonged. It wasn’t for children, but I wasn’t sure how adults would respond to it. I entered it in a contest as a single title contemporary and won Honorable Mention (It had a different title at the time). After that I shelved it for about six years. Seeing the excitement of this new YA genre, I decided to pull For Always out, give it a facelift and change it to YA.

Which authors inspire you today?

There are so many authors that inspire me. Authors I read, as well as authors in my writing group. What truly inspires me is the camaraderie I’ve found amongst authors on Twitter. There are many authors that help promote and help each other. It is a community I am proud to be part of.

What advice do you have for anyone who would like to be an author?

Read incessantly, write daily, and revise, revise, revise. Write what you are passionate about, not what you think the market is currently dictating. Markets change. Be open to the ever fluid times. The publishing industry has and will continue to transform. We have not seen the finished product, so don’t get hung up on the traditional ideals.

What are you working on now?

Aside from the final book in the Heart Waves series, I am also working on a single title NA Contemporary Romance.  This book is a tuff stuff book that deals with date rape and the aftermath.  And no the romance isn’t between the heroine and the rapist. Just wanted to clarify. I’m very excited about this book.

And our final question, if you could have one superpower which one would it be?

I’d want to fly. I don’t really know why, but I think it would be amazing to leap and take off, not having to fall back down to earth, and be weightless, just soar through the air, silent, out of the detection and to the surprise of most people.

We would like to thank Danielle for a wonderful interview.

A Vision of Green (Florence Vaine #2) by L

story: Since moving to Chesterport Flo has discovered new friends and a hidden world. After spending seventeen years as an Empath, thinking she was either delusional or very, very different, she has found others who are different too. She helped battle a coven of dark witches and watched as their leader got sent to her judgement. All now seems peaceful in her new town, but it’s not going to last. For one, Flo’s dad is back on the scene and has taken over her dead grandmother’s house with his new girlfriend. Dealing with him makes Flo think that maybe everyday people can be monsters too, as he blackmails her into giving up the one person she needs the most. Secondly, Flo hears a story about strange goings on in the nearby forest, and becomes obsessed with the magical things that might lie in its green depths. A Vision of Green is the second instalment in the Florence Vaine trilogy, where Flo finds herself yet again immersed in mystery, romance and things that are just a little bit scary. She will come across new adversaries, supernatural and otherwise, discover more about her own identity and grow in ways she had never anticipated.

Our review 5 out of 5 mythical stars

If ever there was a reason why you should check if your favorite authors have written anything new this book is it. We had no idea Ms. Cosway had put out the sequel to A Strange Fire until we checked it out on Amazon. We were shocked to see that not only this book was out but also many others, which have already been added to TBR list. Anyway, lets start by saying LH Cosway is a brilliant writer. She knows exactly how to bring you into this world of paranormal mixed with fantasy and mythology. We all agreed we had a hard time putting this book down. Florence is back standing stronger than ever with great friends around her. And let’s not forget about Frank. There is a reason why we picked him as our boyfriend of the week, we LOVE him. Things do turn when Flo’s drug and alcohol addict father comes back. Tears built in my eyes just thinking about this relationship. Experiencing something like this myself, at times it became difficult and scary to read the things her dad would say and do to Flo. I (Chelsea) personally felt like I knew exactly what Florence was going through. Sorry I had to let that out. Anyway, LH Cosway does an incredible job bringing the forest to life. We all felt like we were actually there and could see everything Flo does. The new mythical creatures are as or even more scary than the witches from the first book. What also made us love this book is how the characters from A Strange Fire continue to grow. They didn’t become stale or stay flat. We might have a new favorite (Josh). This book made us fall deeper in love, broke our hearts, made us hold our breath, and cheer. We are truly in love with this series and LH Cosway style of writing. We can’t wait for the next one.

So get ready for one amazing book and read A Vision of Green.
