Heartbeat by Faith Sullivan

Story: Katie and Adam are afraid of love. She carries the scars of a first kiss gone terribly wrong. He uproots his life to flee the stinging betrayal of an ex. When trust is no longer an option, all romance is suspect. As a young paramedic, Adam rescues people for a living but cannot save himself. Katie, just out of high school, struggles with a tortured home life she cannot escape. Everything changes when Katie hops into the front seat of Adam’s ambulance. Overwhelmed by what they are feeling, neither possess the confidence to make the first move. They walk away from each other, full of regret. To find her, Adam risks his future. To be with him, Katie sacrifices her security. Little do they know, what little time they do have, is being measured by a heartbeat that is slowly dying out.

Our rating: 5 out of 5 heart beating stars

Review: We were told about this book from one of our favorite authors. We are so glad she asked us to read it. Excuse us while we dry the tears from our eyes. This was such a beautiful story. We loved the characters Katie and Adam, who actually become part of your life. We love that both characters were not picture-perfect. It made them more authentic. Katie’s story broke our hearts. Her abusive father filled us with terror. No one should have to have a father like him. As you can see we still have issue with him. We couldn’t wait for Katie to get away from him. Then their’s Katie’s grandmother, who fills your heart with love and makes you shed tears for her. At least she made us hug our grandmothers tighter. Katie and Adam’s love story is beautiful and kind of magical. There are a lot of things working against Katie and Adam from being together, which only makes you cheer louder for their love to become a reality. You want them to both safe each other. Adam is incredible. He’s the type of guy you want in real life. Someone who will give every thing up to be with you. Now we must warn you the end will take you for a loop and you will be asking yourself what just happened. But after reading it a couple times and crying harder each time we realized it’s was perfect. Life is too short not to take a chance on love. Trust us, this story will stay in your heart weeks after you read it.

So be thankful for another day and read Heartbeat.
