Story: Ever since the zombie virus hit Emma’s irritatingly boring Midwestern hometown, she’s been on the run with her old best friend-turned-boyfriend Finn. On their journey, they’ve witnessed some pretty disgusting deaths, narrowly escaped life-threatening escapades that sometimes included one of their own pulling a gun on them numerous times, and redefined the definition of what makes up a family (as it turns out, soldiers and geeks can be pretty decent). They’ve even learned the disturbing truth behind the mysterious virus. But after Emma was bit by one of the infected trying to save her neighbor boy, she was told she would not have long to live. In the thrilling sequel to The Day Zombies Ruined My Perfectly Boring Life, Finn will help to tell the story as Emma and the gang are faced with the most crucial life-changing decisions yet. They’ll come across an unfortunate group of rednecks, discover the truth of what happened to Finn’s federal agent mother, and finally see a chance at truly being safe without having to run anymore. But in the middle of it all, Emma and Finn’s relationship will soar to completely uncomfortable levels when Finn takes things one step too far. And between being injected with an unknown liquid, taking on a completely unexpected (and really agitating alliance), and being left for dead by those she loves most, Emma will realize that zombies are the least of her worries.
OUR RATING: 5 OUT OF 5 BRAIN EATING STARS
REVIEW: The Time Zombies Became the Least of My Worries is the sequel to The Day Zombies Ruined My Perfectly Boring Life, which we are huge fans of. The sequel did not disappoint. It started off at the same point the first book ended. All the characters were back and many of our unanswered question were finally answered. We actually love this book more than the first. But don’t get us wrong the first book is still amazing. Emma is one of our favorite characters in this series. She’s funny and honest. We loved watching her grow in the second book. Emma is not one to wait to get rescued, she takes charge and easily can be considered a hero. At least she’s our hero. Finn is still as dreamy as ever. He’s so protective of Emma. Watching their relationship continue to evolve is fantastic. In this book we also get to go into Finn’s thoughts since he is also the narrator. We think we love him even more. Every character in this book has something to contribute and well developed. The action in the second book continues to be top notch. This book will make you laugh out loud and even shed some tears. Most of all this book will make you fall in love with Jen’s writing.
So turn off the Walking Dead Marathon and read The Time Zombies Became the Least of My Worries.
STORY: Arrested for skateboarding at three o’clock in the morning at the Venice Beach Skate Park, Kalifornia Blu’s life takes an unexpected turn when her rock star absent mom doesn’t show up at her sentencing hearing. To avoid a trip to Juvenile Hall, she tracks down her dad–whom she hasn’t seen since she was eight. The sentencing judge thinks a bit of discipline will be good for Kalifornia and transfers her to a Police Academy Magnet High School, where the students wear LAPD uniforms, learn police drills and practice forensics. And, she’s forced to live with her ex-skateboarding, ex-guitar playing, ex-dad Zachary, in his run-down Venice loft with a 6 pm to 6 am curfew. It’s not an easy sentence for a girl who has grown up touring with her mom, living in five-star hotels all over the world. Curfew is tough, but Kal is tenacious. When she discovers her cop school partner, Jade, is being threatened by her ganglord cousin, Kal skitches (skateboard hitches) a Range Rover through the Venice canals to save her. She rescues a young girl from a gnarly living situation with Jade’s help. It’s a rough world she’s thrown into, with some dangerous people… and a few new friendships, discovered in the most unlikely places.
OUR RATING: 4 OUT OF 5 SKATEBOARDING STARS
REVIEW: Kendell Shaffer brilliantly brings you into Kali’s world. You don’t need to know anything about skateboarding to fall in love with this story. Kali is such a wonderful character, who is very easy to relate. She goes through many struggles a lot of us have gone through ourselves. Kali matures through the story in a way that gives her a true authenticity. One of the delights from this book is the description of the skaters world and Venice Beach. We’ve never been there, but after reading Kalifornia Blu we feel like we just came back from California. This book also made us insterested in stakeboarding. Come on who wouldn’t want to swoon over a cute skateboarder? One of the best parts about this story is nothing is perfect just like in real life. You can really feel the pain and joy as you read the story. All the characters in it help bring an amazing book with a great message to life. Kalifornia Blu also proves you don’t need a lot of romance to have a gripping emotional story. This book is a fun, wild ride that will have you aching for more.
So put your skateboard down and read Kalifornia Blu

Until Ari does realize it, and she almost dies – by Shane’s hand.
OUR RATING: 4 OUT OF 5 KICK ASS STARS
Review: Who cannot like a book that is full of action and romance? You can say there’s a touch of Romeo and Juliet in this book with tons of kick-ass action scenes. Yes Ari is the most powerful flame throwing sorceress, but she’s also a real teenage girl going through teenage problems. This aspect makes it possible for the reader to make a connection with Ari. We loved her sass and her ability to rock it in high heeled boots. We love that she’s not the victim tripping over everything while trying to figure out why the cute popular boy likes her. She is strong and vulnerable at the same time. It’s nice to see a female hero. Then there’s Shane. What a hottie! He will make your heart speed up. Shane is a great guy that knows exactly what Ari needs to get her to trust him. Watching them fall for each other knowing they must kill each other makes it exciting and heartbreaking. Now we do have to admit it does take a couple of chapters to really get into this story, but once you do you won’t want it to end. This is an amazing book with so much action you will have a difficult time putting it down. We already add the next two books to our Must Read List.

Our Rating: 5 out of 5 mind controlling stars
Review: Mind Static once again affirms why Jen Naumann is one of our favorite authors. This book is ride that will twist and turn you upside down in a amazing way. Jen does a great job with the development of all her characters. They are 100% authentic teenagers. Key(Keyanna) is witty, funny, and a strong female character that at times could make the wrong choices, but as the story develops you learn why. We loved the love triangle in this book. Not only because we loved both Lock and Dallas, but also because Jen showed how hard and painful it is to be in a love triangle. You don’t want any one of these characters to get hurt. This book will have you guessing the whole time and pretty much proving that your guesses were completely wrong. There were so many times we found ourselves gasping and thinking I did not think that was going to happen. We want to say so much more, but we don’t want to give anything away. Part of the fun of reading this book is all the jaw dropping moments that occur. Mind Static really is like the best, most thrilling roller coaster ride at the amusement park that starts off with the mother of all parties. Trust us when we say this book is a must read. We hope there’s a sequel, because we need more.

Our rating: 5 out of 5 Witch Queen Stars
Review: All our favorite characters are back in one of the most entertaining series we have read. Perceptions continues right where Sacrifices left off. The Witch Queen is back on Earth pretending to be Kiera. We have to say the Witch Queen is still as evil as before, but with a sense of humor. We actually laughed aloud at some of the things she did. As much as we wanted to hate her a part of us actually started to like her. We hate to take anything away from the main character Kiera, but in this third installment the Witch Queen is the star. Please don’t get us wrong, she’s still as evil as ever. We also loved the growth in Kiera in this book. She seems to have gotten more confidence in herself. One of the best parts of reading a series is seeing these characters grow up. They really do become part of your family in a way. Kristy Brown does another amazing job filling this book with action. She keeps the readers on their toes as they try to guess what’s going to happen next. This book is not predictable at all, in fact many times our guesses were completely wrong. This book will have you laughing, flipping the pages to see what happens next, and cheering for Kiera. We can’t wait for the next book. If you haven’t checked out this series yet, you must. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed.
So grab your eReader and read Kiera’s Quest: Perceptions.
