The Time Zombies Became the Least of My Worries by Jen Naumann

Story: Ever since the zombie virus hit Emma’s irritatingly boring Midwestern hometown, she’s been on the run with her old best friend-turned-boyfriend Finn. On their journey, they’ve witnessed some pretty disgusting deaths, narrowly escaped life-threatening escapades that sometimes included one of their own pulling a gun on them numerous times, and redefined the definition of what makes up a family (as it turns out, soldiers and geeks can be pretty decent). They’ve even learned the disturbing truth behind the mysterious virus. But after Emma was bit by one of the infected trying to save her neighbor boy, she was told she would not have long to live. In the thrilling sequel to The Day Zombies Ruined My Perfectly Boring Life, Finn will help to tell the story as Emma and the gang are faced with the most crucial life-changing decisions yet. They’ll come across an unfortunate group of rednecks, discover the truth of what happened to Finn’s federal agent mother, and finally see a chance at truly being safe without having to run anymore. But in the middle of it all, Emma and Finn’s relationship will soar to completely uncomfortable levels when Finn takes things one step too far. And between being injected with an unknown liquid, taking on a completely unexpected (and really agitating alliance), and being left for dead by those she loves most, Emma will realize that zombies are the least of her worries.

OUR RATING: 5 OUT OF 5 BRAIN EATING STARS

REVIEW: The Time Zombies Became the Least of My Worries is the sequel to The Day Zombies Ruined My Perfectly Boring Life, which we are huge fans of. The sequel did not disappoint. It started off at the same point the first book ended. All the characters were back and many of our unanswered question were finally answered. We actually love this book more than the first. But don’t get us wrong the first book is still amazing. Emma is one of our favorite characters in this series. She’s funny and honest. We loved watching her grow in the second book. Emma is not one to wait to get rescued, she takes charge and easily can be considered a hero. At least she’s our hero. Finn is still as dreamy as ever. He’s so protective of Emma. Watching their relationship continue to evolve is fantastic. In this book we also get to go into Finn’s thoughts since he is also the narrator. We think we love him even more. Every character in this book has something to contribute and well developed. The action in the second book continues to be top notch. This book will make you laugh out loud and even shed some tears. Most of all this book will make you fall in love with Jen’s writing.

So turn off the Walking Dead Marathon and read The Time Zombies Became the Least of My Worries.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Everyone thinks Harper Young killed her boyfriend. No one will say it to her face, but the signs are everywhere.

It’s almost been a year since Gavin was torn from Harper’s arms and brutally murdered. The police wrote it off as a freak accident, deciding Harper’s strange testimony was given under duress. But she knows something unnatural was involved and refuses to stop looking until she finds his killer, even if it means her reputation as a senior is ruined. Even if it means there really are monsters living among us.

With the discovery of the mothmen, witches, vampires and all the creatures she always suspected were out there, Harper finds herself amidst a complex bundle of unseen heroes who call themselves “Keepers”, sworn to keep the secret of the paranormal creatures that walk this earth. As she tries to understand what’s so special about her that she’s able to break an old Keeper law, Harper has a baffling vision of kissing a mysterious guy before a blade is brought down on him. Before she can get a handle on her future, she becomes central to a battle between the questionable “heroes” and the evil she’s been training to fight, leaving her to wonder if there’s any way to change the fate that has been foretold before it’s too late.

Mind Static by Jen Naumann

Story: Although life has been pretty good to Keyanna Sanders, the day she turns eighteen she’s about to get everything she could ever wish for—a hot guy who’s really into her, a sporty car she’s always dreamed of owning, and the party of a lifetime that no one will forget any time soon. But before long, she’ll understand these wishes are more than a coincidence, and that they come at a steep price. Keyanna is more than just an average high school senior, her best friend is more than the innocent boy next door, and her sudden good fortune isn’t just by chance. When her estranged father suddenly re-enters her life, she’ll have to decide who to trust, and whether or not the man she loves has become the enemy.

Our Rating: 5 out of 5 mind controlling stars

Review: Mind Static once again affirms why Jen Naumann is one of our favorite authors. This book is ride that will twist and turn you upside down in a amazing way. Jen does a great job with the development of all her characters. They are 100% authentic teenagers. Key(Keyanna) is witty, funny, and a strong female character that at times could make the wrong choices, but as the story develops you learn why. We loved the love triangle in this book. Not only because we loved both Lock and Dallas, but also because Jen showed how hard and painful it is to be in a love triangle. You don’t want any one of these characters to get hurt. This book will have you guessing the whole time and pretty much proving that your guesses were completely wrong. There were so many times we found ourselves gasping and thinking I did not think that was going to happen. We want to say so much more, but we don’t want to give anything away. Part of the fun of reading this book is all the jaw dropping moments that occur. Mind Static really is like the best, most thrilling roller coaster ride at the amusement park that starts off with the mother of all parties. Trust us when we say this book is a must read. We hope there’s a sequel, because we need more.

So buckle up and read Mind Static

Cheating Death by Jen Naumann

Story: Lysandra Brooks remembers everything about the day she almost drowned alongside her grandma, especially the set of mysterious eyes she saw at the bottom of the lake. Ever since then, she’s been seeing strange things when she is near water – things that aren’t really there. Because of it, Lysandra has the tendency to avoid anything that isn’t on dry land. On her last day of high school, however, the biggest party of the year is set to take place at a fellow senior’s lakeside mansion. Despite her fears, Lysandra decides to prove to her friends and herself that she can handle it. But after a horrific night of drinking and drama that leaves Lysandra feeling lonely and confused, she nearly drowns for a second time, only to be saved by the new guy in town. From that moment on, Lysandra’s world is turned upside down with the discovery of mind blowing secrets, including a revelation that something sinister is after her soul.

Our rating: 5 out of 5 spooky stars

Review: Wow, what a ride we have just been through. Cheating Death is Jen Naumann’s fourth book and she continues to find ways to make us even a bigger fan of hers. Lysandra is an amazing character, who has to deal with difficult circumstances, which she grows from. She really felt like an authentic teenager. We were reminded of all of the stupid things we did as teens; things that got us into dangerous situations. Jen takes things like drinking, and really shows the consequence without drilling it into our heads. As annoying as Lysandra could be at times, you find yourself cheering and really caring for her. We loved the paranormal aspect of this story, but to be honest this book went beyond your typical paranormal story. Jen really thought out side of the box when writing this amazing story that at moments can shake you to the core. Jen deals with rape, suicide, and having to make tough choices perfectly. Cheating Death is far from predictable. In fact every time we thought something was going to happen in the story, but then turns and twists would take the story in another direction we did not expect. It was like being on exciting ride. The ending brought a smile to our faces. It seemed to tie the story in a beautiful silk bow. It is a perfect ending to such a thrilling, emotional, and scary story. Cheating Death is one of those books you’ll still be thinking about weeks after you finish it. It’s a must read.

So get ready for an unforgettable story and read Cheating Death
