Our Boyfriend of the Week: April 8th to 14th

20130228-154346.jpg

Yes Our Boyfriend of the Week is back and we have  a long list of boyfriends to entice your love bug. Our first choice is Tristan from The Dead Beats by Emma Meade. Sure Tristan could be a bit needy, but his love making style more than makes up for that. You might not be able to walk out in the sun with him, but what happens under the moonlight will blow your mind. He’ll want you to be all his and when you don’t agree his heart will be broken. There is something about him that will make you want to return into his arms even though he has become a jaded vampire rockstar. All you’ll care about is being with him. If you haven’t met Tristan you must. He’s a delicious vampire with real vampire traits (no glowing in the sun).

Battle of the Book Boyfriends

Welcome to our fifteenth and last battle of the boyfriends in round one. Each week we have been bringing you a match between two of our chosen boyfriends of the week from 2012. However to end round one this week we are bringing you three to chose from. Whoever wins will move to round two, which will start next week. Here is our fifteenth set of boyfriends of the week to vote on. First a reminder why we picked them:

Finn is the type of guy that will carry you in his arms while zombies chase you. He’s your best friend, but you can quickly fall in love with him. He might have a jerk for a brother and secretes about his family, but his crooked smile will make you forget the end of the world is occurring. Finn will protect and fight along side you. He will hold you in his arms when you need him too and won’t think any less of you when you’ show up in “mom” jeans. He is amazing and will make your heart melt when it’s not full of fear. If you haven’t met Finn yet, you must. You will not only fall in love with him, but also all the other characters.

Jacob is the type of guy that one minute will be your buddy and next minute be this totally hot babe with abs of steel. He will help you build a motor cycle , and go to a slasher film with you. He’s the type of guy who will always put you first and protect you from evil blood sucking vampires. He’s a hairy kind of guy that likes to howl at the moon. He also does have a jealous side, but that’s okay because when it’s really cold outside his body temperature will keep you nice and warm. This week we are all about team Jacob.

Edward will give you the wedding of your dreams, and not to mention a hot car. You might end up all black and blue on your honeymoon night but Edward is so worth it. And yes the baby in your belly will grow with great speed, but after she’s born Edward will finally give you that bite you’ve been waiting for. Edward might be a cold dead blood sucking vampire, but he his warm heart will make you love him for eternity. It’s all about Team Edward this week.

The Dead Beats by Emma Meade

Story: It’s good to be alive…when you’re dead! Meet Alex & Tristan, modern star-crossed lovers of the supernatural variety.
Vampire rock star, Tristan, has a serious obsession with Bruce Springsteen and is battling a ‘can’t live without you’ sort of love for Alex. He’s trying to persuade her to come over to the dark side, but so far she’s resisting his efforts…

Our rating: 5 out of 5 blood thirsty stars

Review: First we do need to say this is for a mature audience. The Dead Beats is a short story which actually appears in Emma’ book Night Sighs a short story collection. This has to be one of the best short stories we’ve read in a long time. In a couple of pages Emma does what many authors can’t do in a whole book. She brings romance, heartbreak, fear, and even some steamy love making scenes. Tristan is one HOT and scary vampire. In a couple of page you see him go from a young in love vampire to a dark and jaded rock star. The music adds to the dark and sexy feel of this story. As a reader you find yourself wanting Alex to give in to Tristan’s love, but then fear for her and want her to run. This short story will take you on a whirlwind of emotions, and the ending will leave you wanting more. It will also make you want to read more of Emma’ books. We know we’ve added all of them to our list.

So grab yourself a drink and read The Dead Beats

Our Books of the Week for the Month of November

Why we picked it:

We love a good love triangle, and Hold on Tight gives us a perfect one. We love that Maria did not make it easy for the reader to really decide which boy is better for Emma by making one the bad choice. She gave both guys good and bad qualities, that they will make you love them just as much as Emma does. This book is the reason we love to read YA. It reminds us of being young again and feeling all those emotions when falling in love. The story made us laugh, cry, and fall head over heals in love. We also adore all the little touches Maria added to this book like titling each chapter after a song. Trust us this is a must a read. You will fall in love with story.

Why we picked it: This is the book that started our love of reading again. A beautiful vampire who could kill you at any second took us for a thrill ride. We swooned over Edward and wanted a vampire of our own. Bella was the awkward girl, who somehow was still perfect. Together they are a love story for the ages following Romeo & Juliet, Maria & Tony, and Danny & Sandy. Oh, Twilight how we love you so.

Why We Picked It: The love triangle in this book is at it’s best. We love the whole scene in the tent. In this book we feel Jacob’s pain of not being able to be with the one you love. And we get a lot more of Edward, which we all ready for after New Moon. This book is actually our favorite from the whole series.

Our rating: 4 out of 5 magical stars

Review: This book is told from Ebony’s point of view rather than Sophia’s, who happens to be her best friend. We hadn’t read the other two books when the author told us about this story. We decided to read the other two first to give this book it’s proper review. We were hooked from the first book Immortal Embrace and couldn’t wait to read the next.Mystic Embrace is fantastically written. The author knows exactly how to keep you hooked and wanting to continue reading. From page one we were put on a roller coaster of emotions. One minute we were laughing and the next crying. The twist and turns, which we will not reveal, kept us on the edge of our seats. We also love how the paranormal element is mixed with the lives of teenagers, who are dealing with the same issues any other teen would deal with. Ebony is a wonderfully written. You can feel her joy and pain. This book is much more than witches, vampires, and demons; it’s a story that can really touch your heart. The whole Embrace series is amazing and we cannot wait to read the next one, which by the way is already out and on our to-read list.

So after you are done preparing for Halloween find a quite spot and read Mystic Embrace
